Don’t Dig Your Grave With Your Fork and Spoon

The old English proverb “Don’t dig your grave with a fork and knife”, rings very true as today, Heart Disease is the top killer in the States. This disease is a result of bad eating habits and is totally preventable as what you eat is a choice you make.

Take charge of your health today, right now, as being the top killer, the next one could be you for it has become so common and it is a silent killer, symptoms may not show until it is too late, and even if they do show, they are always mild and most will just brush it off. Do not do as what most would do that is to think it will not happen to you, it only happens to others.

All of us stand a 50:50 chance of getting heart disease, and 90% of the time the cause is atherosclerosis, the narrowing of the artery due to fatty plaque accumulation. Here comes the frightening number: deaths from atherosclerosis are higher than all cancers combined by 2 times!

Now, is that scary? What can be done, here are some areas worth looking into that is within your control and if you manage them well, you can put yourself out of risk:

• You are what you eat, so if you want to stay healthy, then eat a healthy diet of a variety of food, of which fruits, vegetables and fiber, low fat diet, eat plenty of fish and avoid fast food (refined and processed).

• Take supplements that strengthen your heart and the 2 most sought after today are Coenzyme Q10 (found in organ meats, fish, spinach and nuts) and Folic acid, (can be found in fruits and vegetables) it is vitamin B that helps to prevent blood clots and protects the heart muscles.

• Check your blood pressure and keep it at a normal level, which is less than 85 for Diastolic blood pressure and less than 90.

• Watch your weight, for 2 very good reasons: a)overweight people produce excess insulin and this cause the kidney to raise blood pressure, b)stress the heart as the heart has to pump harder to push the blood to the extra capillaries.

• Keep your cholesterol down, the best way to do this is exercise which promotes good cholesterol to overcome the bad and thus keep your overall cholesterol at a good level. Cholesterol deposits contribute to the fatty plaque that accumulates in the vessel walls that is causing the

• Quit smoking if you are a smoker, the statistic will scare you. Smoking accounts for 50% of stroke for people under the age of 65 and not only is it a major risk factor to heart disease, ulcers and strokes, it is the 2nd cause of death in women after heart disease. Another shocker, smoker’s rate of recovery is poor, so smoking not only compromise your health level, it also undermine your ability to recover. Quit Now.

Why Should I Use a Gluten Free Shampoo?

As more people are being diagnosed with celiac disease or discovering that they are gluten intolerant, gluten-free products are becoming mainstream. Although most people are familiar with gluten-free foods, many people are not aware that they can also buy gluten-free shampoo and other personal care products. In fact, you may not have realized that some shampoos contain gluten in the first place!

Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, rye and barley. Gluten is not easily digested by your body and can build up in your system. Gluten not only affects your digestive tract but can also act as a depressant in your system, making your brain feel foggy and sluggish.

In the past, gluten was consumed in such small amounts that it was generally not harmful, but due to the genetic engineering of our wheat supply, wheat today contains three times as much gluten as it did fifty years ago. The excess of gluten in our food today, and the prevalence of processed foods, has lead to an increased sensitivity in many people. Unfortunately, just reducing one’s gluten intake after symptoms have appeared is generally not enough to reverse the damage. People diagnosed with celiac disease, an auto-immune disorder related to the consumption of gluten, must live an entirely gluten-free life or risk serious illness and relapse.

Gluten is found not only in our food but also in personal care products like shampoo. When washing one’s hair, shampoo can run down into a person’s mouth inadvertently or be absorbed through the skin. For a celiac, this could be incredibly dangerous. Therefore, it is important for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities to purchase gluten free shampoo and other personal care products. Some people may also have a skin allergy to gluten, so a gluten free shampoo would be essential in order to ensure their continued comfort.

Why are they using gluten in shampoo? Because gluten is a cheap filler which also works as a binding agent. Although gluten is almost never found on the label of a product under its own name, it can be disguised in hydrolyzed malt extract, cyclodextrin or stearyldimoniumhydroxypropyl, among others. However, many companies are making the move away from using gluten ingredients in their shampoos and personal care products. Arbonne International, for example, makes a gluten-free shampoo.

If you think you may be experiencing adverse effects from gluten consumption, you should see your doctor for further information. They can help you discover whether gluten is actually the source of your concerns. If it is, you may want to consider switching to gluten-free shampoo and other personal care products.

Alzheimer’s: How to Keep Your Loved One Safe

Our journey now with Alzheimer’s has been a 16 month up and down battle with keeping my mom safe in our home (this is only about half of the diagnosis time frame; my sister had our mom in her home the other half). We’ve had many trips to the ER, plus doctor’s visits because of falls, bumps and bruises (along with the normal aging things).

Phase One: Our first leg of the obstacle course was key to key locks for the front door. It’s very hard to keep track of an Alzheimer’s victim (and that’s what they are, tragic victims) when you’re chasing the victim, or your dogs all over the neighborhood because they have gotten out (repeatedly). Enter: Super Hubby! Key to Key locks on the front door; also locks on the backyard gate.

Phase Two: We pass that part of the obstacle course, onto the next leg of the journey. Keep them out of the kitchen and away from the stove. Implement strategy: Eagle Eye! Everyone in the house has to watch them like a hawk because they can burn themselves, start fires, or cut themselves with a knife. Some people may be able to block their kitchen off with a gate, but in our home we would almost have to have a custom one.

Phase Three: Pill Lockdown! Kick the Tooth Fairy Out! Many times the Alzheimer’s victim feels like they are still in control and take the wrong pills by trying to administer pills to themselves. Lock their pills up. Tell them you’d be glad to help with their pills. You still may have some resistance because they don’t want to give up their freedoms. Caution the Tooth Fairy likes pills! Sometimes when you need some sleep the victim’s doctor will give you a little something to help your loved one, and you, get some rest. Mom was pushing her pills up under her dentures with her tongue, and then spitting them out when we weren’t looking. The Tooth Fairy is on our list! It’s amazing to us how out of it the Alzheimer’s victim can be one minute, and how keen their senses are the next.

Phase Four: Bathtub Safety! Get a bath bench for your bathroom, as well as safety bars for the tub or shower. So many accidents happen in the bathroom. In better times for her, we insisted that Mom change her clothes in her room because she had fallen into the tub so many times while trying to change clothes in the bathroom. I have to help her change now.

Phase Five: Exterior Safety! This phase of the obstacle course is also very important. You do want your loved one to get some fresh air. Mom has access to our backyard to go out if she’d like a bit of air. Make sure that the yard is free of debris and any items that may be of harm to your loved one. Super Hubby had to replace the boards on the privacy fence because she was breaking through the rotted ones trying to escape from the backyard. She has also fallen on some landscape rocks. This phase is like childproofing the great outdoors, but in the end it’s worth it.

There are so many things that go with this disease. Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you cry…and sometimes you do both.

Just remember when you have a screaming banshee banging on your back door, it’s that same person that picked you up when you scraped your knee and gave you a kiss. Sometimes you just don’t wanna….but kiss them back now when they need it!

Bulimia Stories – What I Found in Bulimia Support Groups

Since the feeling of loneliness and isolation is so much a part of bulimia stories, I find that support is hugely important for initiating and sustaining recovery. Bulimia support groups can play a vital role in fostering and offering help for bulimics.

Bulimics often feel a sense of isolation from others and the feeling that no one really understands them. It is true that no one knows exactly what it’s like to be YOU and no one really knows what an eating disorder feels like unless they experience it themselves. I had bulimia for 20 years so I know how painful it is to feel so alone and different from others.

It can be hard to come out to people when you have an eating disorder. Food is the drug of choice and as an addict we like our addictions and think they serve us. When I first wanted to overcome bulimia there was no such thing as bulimia forums or chat rooms. Instead I was introduced to offline bulimia support groups that met in churches and libraries in my neighborhood.

For me the support group that helped me start my recovery journey was Overeaters Anonymous (OA). I found that the people were so real about their addictions and wanted to help. They shared their bulimia stories and offered inspiration, non-judgment and compassion for my recovery process.

When you attended an O.A. meeting you didn’t have to talk if you didn’t want to. Sometimes just listening to the stories of others can be very healing. And there is so much you can gain from a support group:

You realize that you are not alone in your suffering and your eating disorder. There are many others there who are with you in your journey of recovery.

You get to hear other bulimia stories. You listen to people talk about their coping mechanisms, what really worked and what didn’t, how long was the process and how they deal with tough times. All this can be tremendously reassuring and can motivate your own recovery.

The isolation of bulimia can be painfully hard. Support groups can help you be with people and feel that connection again.

You will not only find likeminded people who have undergone a lot of what you have, you will possibly build friendships that will endure throughout recovery and beyond.

You can learn positive, supportive behaviors like proper nutrition, how to deal with your feelings, the importance of not isolating yourself and learning to love yourself again.

After a while you know that you are also a source of support to others in the same way that others have supported you. There is a satisfaction in knowing that you have helped in any small way.

Powerful bulimia stories of recovery can be found online, in support groups, bulimia forums and chat rooms. Check out each one and decide what works best for you. You may find the in-person interaction more helpful or feel more comfortable in an anonymous setting like an online support group. But whichever way you choose, keep at it. Recovery is a journey that’s measured in years, not days or months.

Bootcamp Routines for Personal Trainers

Many personal trainers are looking for bootcamp routines to start their own fitness bootcamps. It’s a great way to supplement their personal training income or create their own bootcamp business. For a bootcamp business to be successful it must have a variety of routines. No one likes to do the same exercises each workout. The larger variety of bootcamp routines that you have, the more bootcampers you will have and the happier they will be.

Creating exercises is one of the areas that personal trainers struggle with in their bootcamp business. This takes up a lot of time that they could be using to grow their business. Penis Benefits of Vitamin A

Although most men are reluctant to talk about penis problems, it is common to experience penile symptoms such as dryness, itching, redness, soreness, and unpleasant odors from time to time. These common issues often occur as a result of masturbation, aggressive sex, or even restrictive clothing, which can cause chafing that may eventually lead to microscopic cracks or breaks in the skin’s surface. These tiny lesions allow bacteria to penetrate the protective outer dermal layer, permitting bacterial infections to take hold and causing the uncomfortable symptoms described above. A simple solution for avoiding these problems is to maintain healthy skin by applying a penis health creme that contains the antibacterial Vitamin A. Although there are other beneficial minerals and vitamins Vitamin A has numerous properties that can help keep skin clear, smooth and odor-free; and unlike oral supplements, which are not always well-absorbed, using a topical creme ensures that the nutrients it contains are available to the body right where they are needed most.

What is vitamin A?

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin which is also known as retinol. While it can only be directly obtained from meat products, this nutrient can be made in the body by substances known as carotenoids, which are found in brightly-colored vegetables such as carrots, beets, red peppers and sweet potatoes. This essential vitamin is used in the production of white blood cells, an important component in immune function. In addition, it is needed for strengthening teeth and bones, as well as maintaining eyesight and preventing certain degenerative eye diseases that are commonly related to aging.

How does vitamin A help to promote good health?

Vitamin A plays an important role in immune system support, keeping skin cells and mucous membranes healthy and preventing bacterial and viral infections from taking hold. Vitamin A has also been shown to deter the effects of aging, helping to reduce wrinkles and diminishing the effects of environmental damage by combatting free radicals that can damage the skin. Medications containing this nutrient are often used in treating skin conditions such as psoriasis and severe acne. In addition, vitamin A has properties which help to prevent the painful calcifications known as kidney stones and to protect the body against certain types of cancer.

What are the most important penis health benefits of vitamin A?

The benefits of vitamin A are significant; in addition to immune system support and the treatment of generalized skin conditions, this vital nutrient also has specific applications for penis health:

• Moisturizes skin and creates a protective barrier that keeps out disease-causing bacteria, which can cause symptoms such as redness, peeling, itching, and burning, as well as discomfort during masturbation and intercourse.

• Eliminates penile odor by eliminating the harmless bacteria that often grow in the genital area.

• Reduces the formation of liver spots, wrinkles, and other signs of aging that can detract from the appearance of the penis.

Keeping Your Penis Healthy

The best way to prevent penis problems is to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, limiting alcohol consumption, and avoiding the use of tobacco products; it is also important to be selective about the choice of sexual partners. In addition, it is suggested that a penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing penis-specific vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other essential nutrients be used daily to moisturize the skin and protect the penis from bacterial or fungal infections, which cause discomfort and may even lead to more serious penis health issues. Applying a penis creme directly to the skin ensures immediate absorption for maximum health benefits.

Steps in Finding the Right Dentist

People around the world dislike going to the doctor or the dentist. I don’t blame them as going to a person who is going to put surgical instruments in your mouth whether it is to do a surgery or check something, it is definitely a scary prospect and not something a person looks forward to. However, the importance of going to a dentist at least twice a year is essential as that is the key to ensuring that you have strong and healthy teeth for the rest of your life. Apart from not liking the idea of going to a dentist, many people avoid going to one for the simple reason that they may have not found the right dentist for themselves. Finding a perfect match is never easy and you should take time and search for the best person who can work on your teeth and take care of them in a way that you would want.

In order to find the right match, all you need to look for is the right personality and a proper skill set. If a person has the experience and expertise in this field, there is no harm in letting him to be the person who will perform on your teeth as you know no matter what, he will take care of them and ensure that your teeth get the care that they deserve. In order to find the right dentist, there are certain steps that you need to know and follow so that you can find the perfect match for yourself. The first thing you should ask around in your friends and your family circle and ask them if they know of some dentist who has treated them or someone they may have heard of. This is very important as your family and friends can give you an opinion that you will find hard to find elsewhere.

When choosing the right match, also look for availability and the distance from your workplace to the place where he sits. It is crucial that you try and avoid travel time as well as make sure that you can get the appointment easily and without having to wait for long. This way you know that the office is professional and take care of clients and needs of customers. It is very important that the office of your dentist is clean. Hygiene is very important and make sure that the doctors wear gloves and use sterilized instruments so that you know they are clean and ready for use. These are important things that you need to look for when finding a dentist that suits your needs.

A dentist is a very important person. He is not a person who just takes care of your teeth, but at the same time, ensures that you have a nice smile, which will lead not only to better and healthy teeth, but at the same give you the confidence you need so that you can be successful in your career.
